Happy New Year & a 2012 Spoonflower Calendar Fabric Giveaway

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fun New Year Eve.  The girls were so excited to spend the evening with their grandparents. My husband and I went out for dinner for the 5 pm (ha!ha!) sitting and then rented a depressing movie which sent me to sleep well before midnight (just keeping it real).
As of today, I kept this little blog up for two years, so I am celebrating.
I purchased fat quarter calendar fabric from Spoonflower to turn into a tea towel for a friend - as well as an extra fat quarter in the same print.  The fabric is  linen/cotton canvas weight. The print is entitled “2012 will be British” and is designed by French illustrator, Virginie Ozanon.  The photo below shows the fabric turned into a tea towel.
If you would like to win, just leave a comment on this post by January 8th (you can have the fat quarter in its new state, or I can turn the fat quarter into a tea towel for you).  { Congratulations to Kara over at Knitting Lemonade, we have been in touch and she will be receiving a new tea towel soon}.
Calendar tea towels make great gifts, to commemorate a marriage, birth of a baby, new home.   This year the summer games take place in London - as well, it is the Diamond Jubilee year.  I also turn 40 this year, but I don’t need a tea towel to remember that.IMG_1766Later this week, I will post about the doll house my girls and I  have been working on over the Christmas/New Years week.  I have been making little doll house blankets and pillows from scraps, practising my serging skills.  My good friend loaned me her her serger while she and her family are living overseas.  One of my 2012 sewing resolutions is to become competent at using a serger and perhaps invest in one.
IMG_1765 I will leave with a few of my favourite crafty memories in 2011.

Thanks for letting me know about that movie, I just removed it from my Netflix list...
I'm impressed with your serging, I got a serger about 2 years ago & still have not taken it out of the box... I need to learn how to use it...
I would like to win the British tea towel fabric from Spoonflower, so please enter me in your giveaway :)

  3. My grandmother always had a new calendar tea towel each year (I wish I had her old ones.) This really brings back memories, and I'd love to win it.

  4. I can't wait to see pics of your special doll house! I promise you will enjoy playing with it as much as I've been playing with my girls dollhouses lately. You don't need to include my name in the tea towel (we have our own special swap coming) but I just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year. It's been a joy getting to know you and your sweet blog this year.

  5. Just had to take a moment to congratulate you on your second anniversary here at the blog - it's a wonderful space. I celebrate with you! (ps. Sewing is on my list of things to learn but hasn't yet come to pass, so on the off-chance I win your draw, please draw another name. I just wanted to say congratulations right away.)

  6. Happy New Year to you and your family, KJ, I hope 2012 brings wonderful things to your household. There is so much for you to celebrate this year. We have tickets for three events at the Olympics this summer which we are looking forward to .. missed out on the first application round but I insisting on getting up super early to catch some for the second. I wasn't going to miss out, after all as Londoners we are helping foot the bill!

It's a really lovely giveaway KJ, but please don't enter me, I'd feel guilty bringing that British themed fabric over to Britain!

  9. Fun fabric. I know that I wouldn't mind a lovely towel.

I turned forty this year - it isn't a big deal - or at least it wouldn't be if my husband didn't tease me about it.
