Weekend Inspiration: Gardening Gear

Although the forecast is not promising, we have some outdoor work planned for this weekend.  My gear is humble: old jeans, rubber boots,  t-shirt, blue canvas/leather gloves from the Canadian Tire.

I have been investigating other options.

Unfortunately, I don't have a photo, but Heather Ross's pattern for quick gardening gloves is available as a generous free download here. (She gave a pair of these gloves to Martha when she was a guest on Martha's show).  I have Heather's Weekend Sewing Book and these gloves are on my "to do" list. Heather says here that the gloves are the quickest and easiest in the book.  These would make a sweet Mother's Day gift as well.

For the offspring, children's gardening gloves about $3 USD via Katz Garden Gloves
As for aprons, Lee Valley's offering : The Gardening Apron.  It is serious, but appears to be functional.

And my brother-in-law pointed me to this Japanese line called Sassafras
Apparently, the pants and shorts feature unique pockets that permit you to store all kinds of tools.

Find it here. Note: the site is mostly in Japanese.

That's the scoop and I hope you are enjoying the weekend!
